Cooling Practices

In the dog days of summer the last thing we need to do is over heat and exert ourselves with an overly heated practice. Bring balance to your day and life taking your current practice at a slower pace, practicing yin or restorative yoga.  Lengthen your breaths to slow down your breathing and practice sitali breath ( form a "straw" with your tongue, by curling it up) to cool the mouth and air flowing in. Take your practice in the early morning hours while the sun is rising and the air is cooler . Be mindful if practicing outdoors to practice in the shade as the sun will drain your energy...
